If you have stainless steel appliances and children, you probably have fingerprints all over them. Am I right? I’m sharing how I keep my appliances kid-print free.

I’ve never owned stainless steel appliances until we bought our home. And boy is it hard to keep them clean! Especially with a little one around. The first time I cleaned it I used a damp lint-free cloth. Then, it looked like this, smear city. There were streaks everywhere. It looked worse than when I started.

Of course, our kids come and place their cute, but print-making, hands in places where they really don’t need to place them. And we get this. Hand-print city!

I did my research and found that stainless steel can be cleaned with 2 simple, and safe ingredients. The great part is you probably already have them in your pantry. Vinegar and Olive Oil! Can you believe it?! Here is what you need!

I have another great cleaning tip here, check it out after you do this!!!

  • Vinegar
  • Olive Oil
  • 1 lint-free cloth
  • 1 hand towel

With just 4 simple steps you’ll be on your way to kid-print free appliances.

  1. Spray vinegar onto a lint-free cloth and wipe your appliance in the direction of the grain of the stainless steel.
  2. Next, fold your lint-free towel to another side, clear of vinegar.
  3. Place a small amount of olive oil on your cloth and wipe in the direction of the grain as well.
  4. Lastly, grab your hand towel and buff out the olive oil. Again, you want to go in the direction of the grain.

This will keep your appliances kiddie-print free for about one-to-two weeks. I did the fingerprint test after buffing it out and they are almost invisible. The olive oil works as a shield. It’s genius and keeps your stainless steel appliances looking brand spanking new.  I used this process on my refrigerator, microwave, stove and dishwasher.
