Pampering is something a mom rarely does for herself, am I right? Why not gift yourself and another mom in your life something that will keep the pampering happening daily? You won’t be disappointed. This DIY Lavender Body Scrub is quick, simple and inexpensive.

Last year I made a conscious decision of doing better when it comes to skin care. I invested in better skin care products and started exfoliating. Because who wants to carry dead skin around?! The hubby was on board too so that meant the products were going quickly. There are plenty of great recipes out there for making your own body scrubs. I thought I can do that! It also enticed me because most of the recipes involved essential oils. If you haven’t noticed, essential oils have been my jam lately.

I chose lavender as my scent for quite a few reasons. Yes, it smells wonderful but lavender oil has lots of benefits that most of us moms need. Here are just some of the things lavender essential oil can do for you.

  • Reduce anxiety and emotional stress.
  • Heals burns and wounds.
  • Improves sleep.
  • Restores skin complexion and reduces acne.
  • Slows aging with powerful antioxidants.
  • Improves eczema and psoriasis.
  • Alleviates headaches.

Who can say no to that?! That is why I knew this scrub would make a great gift. I know I love the way my skin feels a smells after a great body scrub. You feel clean, super soft and relaxed! And Lord knows we moms can use a little relaxation in our life.

Check out this other simple recipe that uses essentials oils and keeps your entire home clean.

I tried out a few recipes and really enjoyed this Lavender Body Scrub recipe. I made a few changes to it to get it just right.  I like my scrub to smell great, moisturize my skin and give it a good dead skin removal.

In this recipe, I used all of my favorite products. Shea Moisture being one of them, I used their Coconut Oil.  I love using their hair products for my daughter’s hair as well.

Target never disappoints, so I tried their Up & Up Epson Salt in Soothing Lavender and it worked out great!

For essential oils, I really love Now Essential Oils and Nature’s Truth Aromatherapy oils. Their price points are great and they have a variety of scents and oils.

Lastly, scoop your scrub into a jar of your choice. I used an 8 oz. jar. This recipe made enough scrub to fill 3- 8 oz. jars.

To dress up your scrub for a gift, wrap a nice ribbon around it or make a custom label. You are now well on your way to gifting yourself or someone else the gift of self-care. Until next time!
